57/100Situational

A capable, integrated identity and device management platform offering strong value for SMBs, though the current deal provides only access without a clear quantified discount.

  • Deal Strength3.0/10

INPUT states 'VERIFIED DEAL MECHANIC: verified deal' but 'SAVINGS CLAIM: none' and 'DISCOUNT TYPE: verified_pricing | COUPON: no'; editorial mentions 'promotional pricing' via a link but no specific discount is quantified, making it effectively an access-only offer.

  • Value for Money8.0/10

Editorial summary positions it as a credible way to replace Active Directory + MDM + Okta at 3-4x lower cost than buying category specialists separately, with a free tier for 10 users/devices.

  • Capability8.0/10

INPUT describes a unified platform bundling identity (SSO, MFA), device management (multi-OS), access control (RADIUS, LDAP, conditional access), addressing core needs for SMBs to retire Active Directory; noted gap is top-tier identity governance at enterprise scale.

  • Time to Value5.0/10

Free tier allows full-feature evaluation; setup involves provisioning users and deploying agents, likely taking days to value as per editorial context, not hours or instant.

  • Trust & Reliability5.0/10

INPUT shows logos of trusted organizations and positive customer quotes, but no specific uptime/SLA, support metrics, or review consensus with counts; evidence is limited to general positive signals.

  • Flexibility & Exit5.0/10

Pricing tiers include monthly and annual options; free tier exists; no evidence of lock-in penalties or data export specifics, suggesting standard terms.

About JumpCloud

JumpCloud, in 30 seconds

JumpCloud is the cloud directory platform that bundles identity (SSO, MFA, lifecycle), device management (Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android) and access control (RADIUS, LDAP, conditional access) under one console. We picked it because it is the most credible way for a 50-500 person business to retire Active Directory without buying Okta + Intune + an MDM separately.

How it works

You provision users in JumpCloud or sync them from HRIS (BambooHR, Workday, Rippling). Each user gets SSO to apps via SAML or OIDC, optional MFA via push, TOTP or WebAuthn keys, and an agent on their laptop that ties the local OS account to the cloud identity. Group-based policies push disk encryption, OS updates, software and configuration to enrolled devices. Conditional access rules can require a managed device, a specific OS posture or a particular network before granting app access.

The same console handles legacy on-prem needs (LDAP for Linux servers, RADIUS for Wi-Fi) which is why hybrid SMBs adopt it.

Pricing reality

JumpCloud is sold as packages. SSO Package starts around $11/user/month, Core Directory at similar pricing, and the Platform bundle (everything: directory, SSO, MDM, MFA, conditional access, RADIUS, LDAP) is roughly $19/user/month annual or $24/user/month monthly. The free tier covers 10 users and 10 devices for the full Platform, which makes evaluation honest. Add-on prices for SaaS Management and Password Manager are listed separately.

What's included

01

Manage developers across continents without IT overhead

Startups and scale-ups with 30–200 engineers spread across time zones use JumpCloud to provision access to GitHub, AWS, and internal services instantly. Device compliance policies enforce encryption and screen lock without blocking productivity. No IT team required.

02

Offer identity management to SMB clients at scale

Agencies and MSPs white-label JumpCloud to manage identity and devices for 50+ small business clients. The multi-tenant architecture and API allow agencies to automate onboarding and billing. Revenue per client typically offsets JumpCloud's per-user cost.

03

Secure macOS fleets without enterprise complexity

Design studios and creative agencies running primarily macOS use JumpCloud to enforce password policies, disk encryption, and app whitelisting across 20–100 machines. Conditional access prevents contractors from accessing client files on personal devices.

Frequently asked

Does JumpCloud replace Active Directory?
For most SMB and mid-market scenarios, yes. JumpCloud provides directory, group policy, RADIUS and LDAP without an on-prem server, and the AD Migration tool moves users and groups across with workstation rebinding.
Does JumpCloud manage iOS and Android?
Yes, both as managed devices via APNs/Apple Business Manager and Android Enterprise. iOS, iPadOS, Android and ChromeOS join Mac, Windows and Linux on the same console.
Can I use my own MFA tokens?
JumpCloud supports its own push MFA, TOTP apps, WebAuthn/FIDO2 security keys (YubiKey, Titan), Duo and conditional access policies that require specific factors per app.
What is included in the free plan?
Up to 10 users and 10 devices on the full Platform: SSO, MFA, MDM for Mac/Windows/Linux/iOS/Android, RADIUS, LDAP, conditional access. It is the most generous free directory tier on the market.
How does JumpCloud compare with Okta?
Okta has the deeper SSO catalogue and more advanced identity governance. JumpCloud bundles MDM and RADIUS that Okta does not, at a fraction of the all-in cost. For mid-market without dedicated IAM staff, JumpCloud wins on simplicity.
Is JumpCloud GDPR and SOC 2 compliant?
Yes. JumpCloud is SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and supports GDPR DPA terms. EU data residency is available.
